Experience Freedom at Fishermen’s Huts with Aruba Active Vacations
If you’ve ever watched colorful kites dancing above Aruba’s turquoise sea and wondered what it feels like to ride one, this is your sign to try it. Kitesurfing is not only one of the most exciting water sports in the world—it’s also easier to learn than you might think, especially in Aruba’s perfect conditions.
Why Aruba Is a Kitesurfing Paradise
With steady trade winds, shallow warm water, and sunny weather year-round, Aruba is one of the best places on Earth to learn kitesurfing. The island’s wind season lasts almost all year, peaking from December to August, and the average temperature hovers around 28°C (82°F).
At Fishermen’s Huts, the island’s main kitesurfing beach, you’ll find wide sandy launch areas, consistent side-onshore winds, and plenty of space to practice safely. It’s no wonder this spot has become legendary among wind and kite lovers.
What Makes Fishermen’s Huts Ideal for Beginners
Aruba Active Vacations has been teaching here for over 25 years, making it the island’s longest-running kitesurfing school. The beach’s shallow lagoon and sandy bottom mean you
can stand up easily while learning. Instructors are highly experienced. Lessons are one-on-one or in small groups, ensuring personal attention and safety. Each session is tailored to your level, whether it’s your first time holding a kite or you’re ready to ride upwind.
What to Expect from Your First Lesson
A beginner course typically includes:
1. Safety briefing & wind theory– Understanding wind direction and how to control your kite.
2. Kite control on land– Learning to launch, steer, and land the kite safely.
3. Body dragging in the water– Feeling the kite’s power and learning self-rescue techniques.
4. Board start practice– Combining kite control with board positioning for your first rides.
Most guests are surprised how fast they progress—many are already riding short distances after just 2–3 lessons.
