Frequently Asked Questions about our kite surfing lessons
Do I need any prior experience to start kitesurfing?
No experience is needed! Our lessons are designed for complete beginners. You don’t need any background in water sports — just a sense of adventure and the ability to swim.
We start from the basics: you’ll learn to control a trainer kite on land, understand wind theory, and practice safe kite handling before you ever go into the water. From there, we guide you step-by-step toward body dragging and your first board start. Our certified instructors are trained to make your learning experience safe, fun, and confidence-building.
How much do kitesurfing lessons cost in Aruba?
The cost of kitesurfing lessons depends on the type of session and whether you book a single lesson or a discounted package. A group lesson (max. 3 students) costs $130 for 2 hours, while a private lesson is $190 for 2 hours, providing full one-on-one instruction.
We also offer multi-day lesson packages at reduced rates, perfect for those who want to progress quickly. All equipment is included, so you don’t need to bring anything — just show up, and we’ll take care of the rest.
Where are the kitesurfing lessons held?
Our lessons take place at Fisherman’s Huts, the most iconic kitesurfing beach in Aruba. Located on the island’s northwestern shore, it offers shallow turquoise water, consistent trade winds, and a sandy bottom — ideal for beginners.
The spot is also great for advanced riders looking to improve tricks or transitions. There’s plenty of open space, which means a safe and relaxed environment to practice in. Whether you’re flying a kite for the first time or learning to ride upwind, the conditions here are nearly perfect year-round.
How many lessons will I need to learn kitesurfing?
Most beginners need between 3 to 5 lessons to get up on the board and ride a short distance. Some students pick it up faster, especially if they have experience with wakeboarding, snowboarding, or other board sports.
Learning kitesurfing is a process: you begin with kite control, then progress to water starts, and finally to riding and steering on the board. Our goal is to help you learn at your own pace, in a supportive environment. Some students book a full 5-lesson package upfront, while others add lessons as they go.
What should I bring to my kitesurfing lesson?
We provide all the kiting gear, but we recommend bringing:
-
High-SPF sunscreen (preferably with zinc)
-
A rash guard or long-sleeve UV shirt
-
Swim shorts or boardshorts
-
A hat or cap (with strap)
-
Sunglasses (with strap)
-
A towel
-
A water bottle
Optional: a GoPro or waterproof camera to capture your progress! Staying hydrated and sun-protected is key, especially during longer sessions.
Is equipment included in the lesson price?
Yes — all necessary equipment is included in the lesson price. That means kite, control bar, board, harness, helmet, flotation vest, and even radio headsets where needed.
Our gear is regularly maintained and suited to all skill levels, so you’ll always be using safe and up-to-date equipment. We adjust kite size to your weight and the wind conditions, making it easier for you to learn in the safest way possible.
What is kitefoiling, and can I learn it too?
Kitefoiling is an exciting progression of kitesurfing where you ride above the water on a hydrofoil board. It feels smoother and faster because the foil lifts the board out of the water, reducing drag and giving a “floating” sensation.
If you’re already comfortable riding a twin-tip board, kitefoiling is a logical next step. We teach it using a rescue boat for extra safety, and you can usually get the hang of it in 1–2 sessions. Kitefoiling is ideal for more experienced riders looking to explore a new challenge.
Can I take private kitesurfing lessons?
Absolutely. Private lessons are perfect if you want full instructor attention, have specific goals (like water starts, jumping, or transitions), or simply prefer to learn at your own pace.
They are also ideal if you’re short on time and want to progress faster than in a group. You’ll get tailored feedback, real-time correction, and maximum flexibility in scheduling.
What are the best months for kitesurfing in Aruba?
Aruba has one of the most reliable wind patterns in the Caribbean, making it a year-round destination. The best months for kitesurfing are generally from January to September, with average winds of 15–25 knots.
October to December still offers good conditions, but the wind can be less consistent. That said, Aruba’s warm weather and crystal-clear waters make it a great place to ride almost any time of year.
Is Aruba a good place for beginner kitesurfers?
Yes — Aruba is one of the best places in the world to learn kitesurfing. The combination of shallow water, steady wind, and warm temperatures creates a safe and welcoming environment for first-timers.
Our location at Fisherman’s Huts has plenty of space and a sandy bottom, which reduces risks for beginners. Plus, our instructors are highly experienced in teaching people with zero background. You’ll feel comfortable, supported, and encouraged every step of the way.
